Continue head down to the first exit on the left to reach Greymoss Mire, then use the grappling hook to reach an NPC. Once players can pass through the gate to the right of the initial spawn location they'll need to drop down through the scaffolding to reach the door at the bottom-left corner. To join random partners, players will need to first find the Pale Candle in the Ashbourne Village, which isn't an item that needs to be leveled up in Salt and Sacrifice. While hosting a session, players can create a password with the board's runes to ensure that no unwanted strangers enter the lobby. The second player will need to select whichever option the first doesn't choose. To play online with a friend, players will need to visit the cooperation board in the Pardoner's Vale and select the option to either host or join a co-op session. Much like the equipment crafting and enhancement in Salt and Sacrifice, the game doesn't go over how players can set up either online or three-player co-op. Once both players have selected their characters, the local co-op play will officially begin in Salt and Sacrifice. This is the menu that will allow player two to either create a new character or load another one up altogether. Afterward, connect a second controller or device, press any button or key, and a menu will appear on the right side of the screen. Setting up local play in Salt and Sacrifice is actually pretty simple, but first players will need to make sure that they are in the game's main menu. Players may find it challenging to use items such as the Grappling Hook in Salt and Sacrifice during local co-op, however, simply because the screen is still shared. Unlike co-op in other games that typically just add-in player two as a copy of player one, the local play in Salt and Sacrifice gives players the option to either create a character or load in another.
